Activity in the NHS

This report analyses NHS activity and explores some of the underlying trends that lie behind headline statistics. It found that patient contact with GP, community, hospital, NHS 111 and ambulance services was equivalent to 1.7 million interactions every day. The largest volume of NHS activity is in primary care and whilst there has been an increase in telephone consultations with GPs, two-thirds of appointments were still face-to-face.
