Changes to online GP registration related to the Infected Blood Inquiry recommendations
From 16 June, updates to the online GP registration service will help identify patients potentially affected by contaminated blood, in line with recommendations from the Infected Blood Inquiry. New patients born before 1996 who use the online GP registration service will be asked if they received a blood transfusion prior to that year. Where new patients indicate they have, GP practices should follow up during the new patient health check – or opportunistically – to discuss, offer or signpost to hepatitis C testing. Free home self-tests are available for patients to order on the hepctest.nhs.uk website. Click here to read more.
