Children’s influenza vaccination service specifications
The children’s seasonal influenza vaccination service specifications for 2026/27 have now been published.
General practice
The GP Enhanced Service (ES) specification for children is available. Under the ES the cohorts eligible for an influenza vaccination from 1 September 2026 are children aged:
- 2 to 3 years old
- 6 months to 17 years in a clinical risk group
GPs will be able to sign up to participate in the ES on CQRS. All practices will also need to sign up to the related claiming service on CQRS to enable payments, including those who intend to collaborate in their PCN to deliver the service but not administer vaccinations themselves.
Community pharmacy
It has been agreed to extend and expand the children’s flu vaccination pilot in 2026/27, and the childhood flu advanced service (AS) specification is available. Under the AS the cohorts now eligible for an influenza vaccination are children aged:
- 2 to 3 years old (from 1 October)
- 2 years to 17 years in a clinical at risk group (from 1 October)
- school aged children (from 1 December)
For 2026/27, the Item of Service fee will be £10.06.
If pharmacy contractors wish to provide this service, they must register on MYS from 10 June and ideally by 31 August.
