Cutting antibiotic prescribing with data

A GP practice in Stockport has achieved a 15% reduction in overall antibiotic prescribing by adopting a near-real-time data dashboard to support antimicrobial stewardship. Brinnington Health Centre used the dashboard to identify variation in prescribing between clinicians, review repeat antibiotic use, and flag cases where prescribing may fall outside National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance. This enabled targeted, evidence-based conversations within the team.
