Government seeks GP views on fit note process

Reforming the fit note is part of the government’s plan to ensure that people get timely access to work and health support. The aim is to provide better support for individuals, while helping to reduce sickness absence and improve health outcomes.

The Department for Work and Pensions and Department for Health and Social Care are seeking the views of GPs and other health professionals working in primary care on the current fit note process, and the support required to facilitate meaningful work and health conversations and help patients start, stay and succeed in work.
