Introduction of a routine varicella vaccination programme

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended the introduction of a varicella vaccine in the childhood immunisation programme.  From 1 January 2026 children will be offered the combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) vaccine as part of the childhood routine vaccination programme.  This NHS England letter confirms the vaccination programme for children at one year and at 18 months, with a catch-up programme for children aged up to 6 years.
