NHS App improvements gives Londoners greater control over their healthcare – campaign assets now available
The NHS App has been redesigned to make it easier for patients to find the services they need. The homepage is now more streamlined, with simplified navigation and clearer language throughout.
NHS London, in line with the national campaign, is running a campaign to encourage patients across the capital to download and use the NHS App, giving them greater control over their healthcare whilst relieving pressure on other parts of the system. The team are asking colleagues across the system to help to make this campaign a success by:
• sharing the promotional posts on social media
• circulating campaign materials with your colleagues
Some more information on the app is below, and links to London-specific and national materials for distribution.
What does the NHS App do?
The NHS App allows patients to access a range of NHS services on a smartphone, tablet or desktop without having to contact their GP or NHS 111.
In minutes, the NHS App allows users to:
• request repeat prescriptions
• choose their usual pharmacy or collect from any pharmacy in England
• view GP-held medical records, including medication, test results and immunisations
• check if they need urgent medical help using 111 online
• find NHS services near them, such as dentists, pharmacies or mental health services
• access NHS services on behalf of somebody else (for example, their children or other family members)
• register for organ donation and change their donation preferences.
Depending on what has been enabled by their local area, they may also be able to:
• request and cancel appointments at their GP surgery
• check the details of future GP and hospital referrals and appointments
• receive notifications from their GP surgery, such as appointment reminders and other messages relating to their care
• contact their GP surgery via an online form.
