The NHS dental quality improvement (QI) programme begins in April 2026 and is a structured three-year programme. Taking part is voluntary, and each year focuses on a different nationally selected topic. This guidance supports dental practices taking part in year 1 of the programme (from April 2026 until the end of March 2027). It should be read alongside section 8 of the NHS dentistry: quality and payment reforms contractual guidance.
