Over 1,000 more GPs to be recruited this year

More than 1,000 newly qualified GPs will be recruited via a new flexibility agreed by the government. Currently under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), primary care networks (PCNs) can claim reimbursement for the salaries (and some on costs) of 17 new roles within the multidisciplinary team – meaning more specialists are available to treat patients.  Newly qualified GPs will also be recruited into this scheme during 2024-2025 with additional funding available.
