Patient payment incentive for dental practices

A new patient premium (NPP) is being offered to dental practices as part of the dental recovery plan to treat patients who haven’t been seen by a dentist in over two years. The payment level, of £15 or £50 depending on the treatment required, is in addition to the NHS funding a practice would already receive for this care and recognises the additional time that may be needed for practices to assess, stabilise, and manage the oral health needs of patients who have not received NHS dental care for more than two years. Dental practices are reminded to update their profiles on NHS.uk to let people know that they have additional capacity. The NPP is a time-limited scheme that will end in March 2025.
