Pharmacy First service updates

Following a clinical stocktake, updates have been made to the NHS Pharmacy First service clinical pathways, patient group directions (PGDs) and protocol to recognise the level of care and workload required to manage patients. These changes come into effect from 1 October 2025. IT suppliers plan to update their systems overnight on 30 September 2025 to allow contractors to record consultations in line with the changes. Community pharmacy teams providing the NHS Pharmacy First clinical pathways should read the updated documents, sign the PGD and protocol authorisation sheet(s) in preparation for go-live.
