Primary care dental contracts – flexible commissioning

NHS dentistry is a key primary care service, and its high profile means it is important that commissioners deal with their contracting responsibilities in the best way they can which is to make the contractual arrangements so services can be made available to patients and appropriately manage them. However, we are at a time of increasing access and dental care needs.  Commissioners of dental services can look at the types of services they wish to commission over and above the services allowed within the standard contract arrangements. This is known as flexible commissioning. This virtual session will look at the current commissioning environment, options for commissioning new services and how they can be contracted, including the implications of the Provider Selection Regime.
