Proposed funding uplift for general practice and GPs in ARRS
On the 20 December 2024, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, wrote to general practice contractors highlighting the consultation with the General Practitioners Committee of England (GPCE) for the contractual arrangements for 25/26.. As part of his update, to provide reassurance to the sector, the proposed funding uplift for general practice was indicated as £889m for 25/26, representing a 7.2% cash growth and the largest uplift to GP funding since the beginning of the five-year framework. The outcome of consultations with the GPCE will be communicated in the usual way. In addition, it was also confirmed that recently qualified GPs employed via the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) will continue to be supported through the scheme next year. Primary care networks are encouraged to make full use of the funding available to them to recruit.
