Raise awareness of urinary tract infections in older adults

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common health concern and a major cause of illness, hospital admission and NHS demand. In 2023/24, UTIs were responsible for 1.2 million bed days, and over half of E. coli cases began as urinary infections. To support prevention and earlier identification, NHS England and UK Health Security Agency have developed a practical communications toolkit and resource pack for use across primary care, pharmacies, care homes and community settings.

New resources include:

  • A short UTI prevention awareness video for waiting room screens
  • A UTI prevention poster and UTI symptom poster translated into 13 additional languages.
