Regulatory changes to community pharmacy

Regulatory changes to the community pharmacy sector – including those on distance selling premises (DSP) pharmacies and core opening hours – have been laid before Parliament and will come into force on 23 June 2025. The amendment regulations make changes to the NHS (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013 (the PLPS regulations) agreed in the recent 2024/25 and 2025/26 negotiations between the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS England (NHSE), and Community Pharmacy England. Most of the changes were announced on 1 April, while one has been announced recently to reduce the number of applications before the market entry exemption closes.
