Many primary care organisations are already using, or exploring, robotic process automation (RPA) to support service delivery and improve operational efficiency. It should be noted that application programming interfaces (APIs) should be the preferred mechanism for system integration and data exchange, as they provide a more robust, scalable, and secure approach. Where APIs are not available, NHS England has published guidance on secure authentication to support the safe and appropriate use of RPA.
