Tool supports primary care assessment of spinal pain

An interactive tool to support GPs and other primary care professionals in assessing and managing patients presenting with neck and back pain is now available on the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) website. Aligned with the National Back and Radicular Pathway, the virtual poster guides clinicians through best practice initial assessment, including history and examination points, consideration of non spinal causes of pain, and identification of spinal red flags. It also provides clear advice on pain relief, activity and onward referral. Primary care teams are encouraged to bookmark and save the tool to support their practice.
