Unscheduled dental care

Clinical guidance supports the effective delivery of unscheduled dental care services in England, both during and outside normal working hours, that enable equitable access to timely, safe and effective care tailored to an individual’s needs. It replaces the Clinical standard for urgent dental care published by NHS England in November 2023 and supports the National service specification for urgent and non-urgent unscheduled dental care which outlines the requirements and evidence-based protocols for the delivery of urgent and non-urgent unscheduled dental care in England.  These documents will support the local commissioning of unscheduled dental care services.
