Primary care dental contracts – flexible commissioning

NHS dentistry is a key primary care service, and its high profile means it is important that commissioners deal with their contracting responsibilities in the best way they can, which is to make the contractual arrangements so services can be made available to patients and appropriately manage them.

However, we are at a time of increasing access and dental care needs.  Commissioners of dental services have the opportunity to look at the types of services they wish to commission over and above the services allowed within the standard contract arrangements, known as flexible commissioning.

This three-hour session will look at the current commissioning environment, options for commissioning new services and how they can be contracted, including the implications of the Provider Selection Regime.

The agenda covers:

  • Current commissioning environment
  • Opportunities
  • Case studies
  • Contracting mechanism

The training course will be led by one of our dental experts. Delegates will benefit most from this session where they fully participate in the questions, group exercises, and interactive tools, taking the opportunities to discuss current issues and seek solutions with our expert and each other.

This session is for commissioners and those working on their behalf and is useful to anyone involved in the commissioning of dental services.

Following attendance on the course, the delegates will be able to confidently understand the opportunities within flexible commissioning.
