Using SHAPE in relation to commissioning pharmaceutical services

When

22 August 2024
10:00 - 12:30

Where

This workshop is for those involved in the commissioning of pharmaceutical services and will look at how the Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation (SHAPE) Place Atlas can be used to assist in this.

SHAPE can help in a number of areas when commissioning pharmaceutical services, for example:

  • Preparing reports on applications for inclusion in a pharmaceutical list.
  • Identifying travel times to the nearest pharmacies by car, public transport or on foot.
  • Identifying where prescriptions from a specific GP practice, or practices, are dispensed.
  • Identifying which GP practices prescriptions dispensed by a specific pharmacy come from.
  • Assessing the impact of the closure of a pharmacy, either as a result of a consolidation or a contractor giving notice of withdrawal from a pharmaceutical list.
  • Identifying geographical gaps in the provision of a pharmaceutical service or services.
  • Identifying which pharmacies are to be directed to open on a public or bank holiday.

Delegates should ensure they are registered to access SHAPE in advance of the workshop so that they can follow the demonstration. SHAPE is available free to NHS professionals and access is by formal registration and licence agreement.

This workshop will be led by one of the PCC expert adviser team.
